Christmas Vacation, Not What They Used ot Be?

In a recent report on KTAR radio in Phoenix, people are not traveling like they used to. KTAR had interviewed Carolyn Nitz with First Class Travel, and she states the trend in holiday travel has definitely changed over the past 10-15 years. It used to be that people would leave for Christmas Vacation the day their kids got off from school and would take a weeklong trip back home. Now, people wait a few days after the kids get out of school and stay for long weekends, 4 to 5 nights maximum.

The upside for the travel industry is while customers are taking shorter vacations, they are taking more of them. More trips, more money spent and in different locations, therefore spreading tourism dollars around the country. Could it be that the change in everyday lifestyles, where people are too busy and don't typically have enough time to get everything done, possibly flooding through to Christmas vacation? What happened to enjoying family and friends on Christmas? Is this the new tradition?

Going on a Hawaiian Vacations for the Sugar Bowl?

If you are one of the many residents of Georgia that is planning to take a Hawaiian Vacations while you attend the Sugar Bowl, you better get planning. You most likely will have a lot of time to fill. As of Saturday December 4th, the University of Hawaii sold out its allotment of tickets to this year's Sugar Bowl. There are some fans that now have plane tickets and hotel reservations, but no ticket to the big game.

The team from Georgia, the Warriors, would have had an easier time obtaining tickets, had the university accepted the full allotment of tickets that they were initially offered. The university turned down 4,000 tickets in fear that they would not be able to get rid of them. That would have cost the university $500,000.

In hopes to rectify the situation, the university has contacted Sugar Bowl authorities and has requested to be informed if any tickets do become available. They have also started a buy back program for those fans that have tickets, but do not yet have reservations.

If you are like me, there are tons of things to go see and experience within the state you live in that you have never been to. There is only one suggestion I can give you…Road Trip! See where you can get to within 6 hours drive time from home and see what your options are.

No matter where you live, there are always new things to experience. Live by the coast? Why not travel a little further to a different beach or city? Live in snow country? Try a new slope and stay the weekend at a resort. The easiest thing to do is change the way you vacation and stay in a bed and breakfast, or stay in a nicer room than you would if you had to pay for airfare too!

There are miles of vacation ideas on your doorstep, even if for only a weekend get away. Tons of vacation ideas are only an atlas away!

A Ski Vacation with No Snow?

A ski vacation with no snow is that possible? In Stowe, Vermont there is. Weather it is too warm to ski or it is raining too hard; this city has taken it upon them-selves to make sure they keep the tourists busy.

Since the weather affects their business, they have made sure to have enough non-snow activities lined up for all of the skiers and snowboards to spend their time and income.

The city offers plenty of shops and restaurants and the local resorts have more than you can imagine to keep you occupied.

If your not in the mood to play board games or the piano in the lodge, then head over to Okemo Mountain where they have swimming, skating, racquetball, or even brush up on your golf on their 9 hole virtual golf course. Have little kids that need some fun too? Smuggler's Notch may be your day off the slopes destination where they offer and inflatable obstacle course, miniature golf course, and table tennis. They also have babysitting services available too!

So weather there is snow or not, you can have a great ski vacation in Vermont!

Las Vegas Vacations Something for Everyone

Weather you are single, a couple, or a family of four there is pleanty to do in Las Vegas. Las Vegas vacations can be whatever you make of them and what you want to accomplish.

Single? There is a pool to die for at almost every property in Las Vegas. Many of them with adult only areas for those of you who do not enjoy swimming with kids. Don't want to lay in the sun, then there is miles and miles of shopping at the casinos as well as the mall right on the strip. The night life in Vegas is legendary. One club is hotter than the next. For a change of pace try a night club that the locals go to, generally the cover charge is less and well you get to enjoy the locals!

Dating? If you can manage to stay away from the hundreds of wedding chapels then you'll have a great time! Again, the casino pools and shopping are ways to keep you out of the casino during the day, but you most likely want something a little different for your nightly entertainment. There are so many upscale restaurants to enjoy in Vegas, it's hard to pick sometimes. After dinner there is always gambling, but why not take in one of the dozens of shows while your there, you are pretty much guaranteed to find a show that suits your mood for the evening.

Family? Roller coasters in casinos. M&M's in dozens of colors. Pools for swimming. Carnival games at Excalibur. No wonder kids enjoy vegas!
